M.201 Willys-Hotchkiss of 1961
In the colours of the 3-rd army of G.S.Patton
As son of Norman of the highly-rated of my father, being small I often crossed my holidays in Caen and naturally on the beaches of the landing. On June 6 is a magic and cruel day at the same time.
Indeed, the idea to think that young soldiers of any countries (Knowing France only
in the books of history for some) came to free us from an invader is magnificent but many of them, died in the daytime J on our beaches and till the end from the conflict. It imposes respect and duty never to forget.
Any will say to me that they came to free us by interest ? Even though it would be true, let us remember that they paid of their blood our current freedom.
To honor them, the restoration of one of the decisive objects in the victory of the allies was necessary: I named the JEEP.
I chose to decorate her in the colors of the third army of General Patton. Why will you say to me? Because General Georges S . Patton (that I admire his exploits and his spoken franc) would have dreamed to be a part in the daytime J but it was not there for different reasons. By this way and by the presence of my jeep in the remembrances of the 60 years of the landing in June, 2004, I shall produce to him, if it was need of it, one so much is little justice.
